Mino Raiola, one of the world’s most well-known agents, died on Saturday after a long struggle with illness, according to his family. He was 54 years old at the time.

Raiola represented Erling Haaland, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Paul Pogba, among others, in the game. His clientele included Matthijs de Ligt, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Jesse Lingard, Blaise Matuidi, Hirving Lozano, and Mario Balotelli.

The news of his death was announced early on Thursday, which Raiola parodied in a post that read: “My current health condition is as follows: I’m furious since they murdered me for the second time in four months. They also appear to be able to resuscitate.”

The Raiola family issued the following statement on Saturday: “We mourn the loss of the world’s most compassionate and accomplished football agent.

“Mino fought until the end with the same fervor he used to defend our players at the negotiating table. Mino, as always, made us proud without even recognizing it.

“Mino’s efforts had a huge impact on a lot of people, and he helped to write a new chapter in modern football history. His presence will be missed for the rest of time.

“Mino’s passion for making football a better sport for players will continue unabated.

“We appreciate everyone’s support during these trying times, and we respectfully request that family and friends’ privacy be respected during this difficult time.”

He was born in Italy in 1967 and relocated to the Netherlands a year later, where he played youth football with HFC Haarlem. Raiola stayed in the game as an agent for Sports Promotions after failing to make it as a professional football player.

Pavel Nedved’s first major solo move was from Sparta Prague to Lazio in 1996, when he departed to form his own company.

Pogba’s then-world-record £89.3 million move from Juventus to Manchester United was engineered by him in 2016.
