Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team scored three goals in the space of five minutes against Aston Villa to rescue a 2-0 lead and win the Premier League this season, just nine days after Sergio Aguero’s famous league-winning shot.

In the 37th minute, Villa took an unexpected lead when Matty Cash headed past Ederson with their first chance on goal. Despite this, Liverpool’s 1-1 tie with Wolves offered some hope.

Villa’s Philippe Coutinho, on the other hand, startled the Etihad Stadium by scoring in the 69th minute. Just before the goal, Guardiola switched Bernardo Silva for Ilkay Gundogan, and it was the German midfielder who turned things around.

In the 76th minute, Gundogan got on the end of Raheem Sterling’s drifting cross to the back post, trimming the advantage to one goal. After two minutes, Oleksandr Zinchenko beat Cash to the ball and dragged it back to the outside of the box, where Rodri was set to bury it.

Three minutes later, in the 81st minute, the Etihad trembled again as Gundogan converted Kevin De Bruyne’s low cross from close range. City’s three substitutes, Zinchenko, Sterling, and Gundogan, all played vital roles in the three goals.

City went on to win their fourth Premier League title in five years under Guardiola’s leadership. Manchester City won the Premier League in the 2012/13 season.
