Chelsea has announced that Bruce Buck, the club’s chairman for the past 19 years, will step down at the end of the month.

The news comes just three weeks after Todd Boehly took over the club from Roman Abramovich after the government pushed the club to cut ties with the Russian.

‘I am happy to have helped Chelsea achieve great success on the pitch and have a significant influence in the community,’ he stated in a statement on Chelsea’s official website.

‘It’s time for me to stand away and allow new ownership to build on the solid foundations we’ve established.’ The owners have a compelling vision for Chelsea’s future, and I’m looking forward to working with our amazing staff, players, coaches, and supporters to help them realize it.’

Bruce Buck will continue to serve as a senior advisor to the club in the future.
