Barcelona reportedly agrees €60 million offer to sign Real Betis star next summer
Joan Laporta has big plans for Barcelona’s upcoming summer transfer window. The speculation and build-up suggest that it could be one of the most important transfer windows in the club’s history, with multiple high-profile arrivals and departures scheduled.
Catalan newspaper SPORT reveal that Nabil Fekir is one of the profiles whom the Barcelona president admires and wants to bring to Camp Nou.
The Real Betis player has been one of La Liga’s most effective midfielders since his arrival and even renewed his contract with the Seville-based side recently.
Betis will not allow the player to depart for less than €80 million, as per SPORT’s report. However, the gap to bridge is not big for Barcelona, as apparently the club is said to be preparing a €60 million offer for Fekir.
In 21 league appearances, the French international has scored four goals and provided six assists for Los Verdiblancos. He has created 10 big chances and averages a whopping 2.5 key passes every ninety minutes.
The creative output is not all that Fekir promises to deliver, as his defensive contributions have been equally impressive. The 28-year-old has close to 7 duels won and a tackle in every game, whilst completing 2.2 successful dribbles.
Fekir has played alongside Memphis Depay at Lyon, before agreeing on personal terms with Liverpool in 2018. His move to Anfield seemed imminent, but a last-minute knee injury revealed during his medical saw the deal collapse.
Nabil Fekir’s signing seems to be a far-fetched hope. With the club already planning to spend north of €100 million on Erling Haaland, it does not seem realistic to bring in another big name for a hefty fee.
