Barcelona is keeping a close eye on the 19-year-old striker from La Liga
While much attention has been focused on Barcelona’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland, the Catalans are also keeping an eye on promising teenagers in Spain, Europe, and around the world to add to their ranks.
Barça has already signed one of these players, Pablo Torre, and has been pursuing Brazilian wonderkid Endrick from Palmeiras.
The 19-year-old forward has been on the Catalans’ radar since last year, with scout Jon Andoni Goikoetxea keeping a close eye on his progress at the Basque club for some time.
Karrikaburu is a product of La Real’s junior system and has only appeared in one senior game so far. He has, however, made an impression with the club’s B squad, scoring 14 goals and assisting on two more in 37 games.
The youngster’s outstanding track record in juvenile football, as well as his performances for the B squad, have drew a lot of attention. Real Sociedad rewarded the teenager with a new long-term contract last year, extending his tenure at the Anoeta until 2026.
Karrikaburu’s new deal also contains a €60 million release clause, ensuring that any club interested in signing him will have to make a considerable financial commitment.
Barcelona is also keeping an eye on another Real Sociedad kid, 20-year-old midfielder Benat Turrientes, who has a €50 million release clause.
Barça have had a lot of success recently by putting their faith in young players like Ansu Fati, Pedri, Gavi, and Nico Gonzalez, among others. As a result, it’s no wonder that they’re still scouring the market for exceptional possibilities.
A transfer for Karrikaburu, on the other hand, will be hindered by his extended contract and €60 million release clause.
