Barcelona has asked for the transfer of eight players
According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona has a busy summer ahead of them as they prepare for the new season, with Xavi Hernandez demanding up to eight new players.
Barcelona, on the other hand, needs to get rid of unwanted players in order to bring in new ones. Xavi has already organized a meeting with each of the fringe players to advise them of their lack of opportunities at Barcelona.
On the list of players that have been asked to leave the club, there are up to eight players. Neto, Samuel Umtiti, and Clement Lenglet are at the top of the list because they have the ability to lower Barça’s wage bill.
Oscar Mingueza and Riqui Puig, both academy graduates, have been notified that they will be leaving the club, with the latter reportedly being offered as part of the deal to sign Ruben Neves, one of Xavi’s key priorities.
Other players on the list include Martin Braithwaite, Adama Traore, and Luuk de Jong. Braithwaite isn’t ready to leave Camp Nou just yet, but the forward’s future with the club could be jeopardized due to the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
At the end of their loan stints, Adama and de Jong are anticipated to return to their respective teams. Barcelona has a €30 million permanent option on Adama, but they are prioritizing a move for Leeds United midfielder Raphinha.
Apart from these eight fringe players, Barcelona is open to trading four more if the right offer comes in.
Frenkie de Jong is clearly a possibility, with Barcelona aware that selling him may help the club solve its financial problems.
Other names on the list include Ousmane Dembele, Memphis Depay, and Sergino Dest, the latter of whom has lately been linked with a move to Chelsea.
